South Dakota School of Mines & Technology Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering

I am interested in the educational pathways of makers. Makers do engineering but engineering students in college don't necessarily make. I find this really odd. I am looking for collaborators and good conversation about research, curriculum design, and policy.
I am an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. I teach human-centered engineering design, design thinking, making, and design innovation project courses. My research studies how technical and non-technical people learn and apply design thinking and making processes to their work. I am interested in the intersection of designerly epistemic identities and vocational pathways. I did my undergrad and grad school work at Stanford and was previously at Arizona State University.
